In this hands-on Science activity, the students of fourth of primary had the opportunity to germinate some bean and soya seeds, watch them grow and record their findings, making hypothesis, examining the evidence and drawing conclusions.
During a number of days they wrote what they observed, describing the changes during the process of germination and growth of the bean and soya plants.
By observing the growing plants and using the journal to draw observations, they were able to apply the scientific method process of experimentation and data collection. Therefore, students had to consider different hypothesis, explore observations, record data, take measurements and answer key questions.
Finally, when all the steps were completed, students communicated their findings and whether these supported their original hypothesis.
